Andhra Pradesh Sees Doubling And Electrification Of Rail Lines In Record Time

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RNVL), a PSU under Indian Railways completed and commissioned doubling of 69 Km railway line in a single go.

The doubling of Vijayawada division rail line connecting Uppaluru-Gudiwada-Moturu and Gudivada-Machilipatnam was a record-breaking achievement by RVNL.

The 69 Km rail line doubling is going to form part of Vijayawada-Gudivada-Bhimavaram-Narsapur, Gudivada-Machilipatnam and Narsapur-Nidadavolu doubling and electrification project.

This particular doubling of rail line will help agriculture and aquaculture in the region, for which region is well known for, and for consistent movement of public, goods and freight, and also provide viable route in cyclone prone area, said ministry of Railways in a post.

 

So far 124 Km of doubling and electrification of the total 224 Km has been completed, at the cost of Rs. 3,000 crore.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, Southern Central Railways, expressed appreciation of RVNL over completion and commissioning of 69 Km line, executed, utilising best of technology and construction practices adopted.

This Line will also form part of lines between major benefits between Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, which will be benefited and more convenient.

Mr. Mallya also said, state of the art signalling, electronic signalling and electrically operated barriers and other safety deatures are installed at 24 cross gates through-out the stretch.

The project was formalised Ministry of Railways under Piyush Goyal, and was entrusted with RNVL, completing on time despite pandemic delaying work in between.
