Despite the Maharashtra government dragging its feet on the ambitious bullet train project, Indian Railways would go ahead with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed corridor and complete the Gujarat portion on time.

With the project moving at a snail’s pace in Maharashtra, the Centre has made it clear that the execution of the first high-speed train in the country would be on course and if possible it would be operational on the Gujarat side. (read full article)

 


Railways To Replace Guard Van With EoTT Device In Freight Train

Emphasising on the technology, Indian Railways is installing a new system to do away with the guard vans and the practice of deploying guards at the rear-end of goods trains to ensure all wagons remain intact when the train is in motion.

The technology-driven initiative envisages replacement of guard vans with a fully loaded wagons equipped with a sophisticated device called the End of Train Telemetry (EoTT) system. (read full article)


Big Fillip For Freight Transport: 40 Per Cent Of Dedicated Freight Corridor To Be Commissioned In Ongoing FY-20-21

In a major boost for the rail freight movement in the nation, freight trains will be able to run on 40 per cent of the two under-construction dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) by 2021, reports Economic Times.

As much as 40 per cent of the DFC network is slated for completion in FY20-21. By December 2021, the network from Kanpur, Khurja, Dadri, Rewari, Ajmer and Palanpur to ports in Gujarat will be connected.(read full article)


NHAI Joins Hands With IITs, NITs To Leverage Local Expertise

With the aim to provide world-class National Highway network and to create a bridge between technical institutions and industry, the National Highways Authority of India has joined hands with IITs, NITs and other premier institutes to leverage local expertise.

In an overwhelming response, as many 18 IITs (including IIT Roorkee, IIT Bombay, IIT Varanasi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur), 26 NITs and 190 other reputed engineering colleges have agreed to collaborate with NHAI. Out of which, about 200 Institutes have already signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). (read full article)

340-Km Purvanchal Expressway Set To Open For Public By Jan 26, 296-Km Bundelkhand Expressway To Be Operational By 2021 End

Uttar Pradesh is aiming to throw open the Purvanchal Expressway to the public from January 26 next year ahead of the deadline, Pioneer reported quoting Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and UP Expressway Development Authority CEO Awanish Awasthi.

With Purvanchal And Bundelkhand Expressway Construction In Full Swing, UP Will Start Work On 594-Km Ganga Expressway In Jun 21

With the construction of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways progressing rapidly, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now shifted focus to his dream project -the 628-km-long Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj, at a cost of over Rs 36,000 crore.

The state government is planning to lay the foundation stone of 594-km long six-lane ‘Ganga Expressway’in June 2021. (read full article)

 

 


PM Modi To Virtually Inaugurate Agra Metro Project On 1 December

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Agra Metro Rail project on December 1.

The online inauguration ceremony will also be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N. Singh, “The Prime Minister will be virtually inaugurating the project in the presence of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on December 1. The required arrangements are being made.” (read full article)

Move To Make Transfer Of Vehicle Ownership Hasslefree

With the aim of making the transfer of vehicle ownership easy and less cumbersome to the identified family member or any other nominee on the lines of bank accounts, the Road Transport Ministry has proposed to amend the Central Motor Vehicle Rules enabling the owner to put the name of nominee while applying for registration.

According to the proposal, one can also add the names at a later stage through an online application.(read full article)

 


Government To Bring Model Tenancy Law, Boost To Real Estate & Rental Housing

Government will soon come up with model tenancy law, it will boost rental housing and real estate sector, Durga Shanker Mishra, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) secretary said.

Speaking at the NAREDCO webinar (National Real Estate Development council), Mr. Durga Shanker Mishra said, model tenancy law is ready and is translated in all other languages, as it will have far reaching consequences. (read full article)

 

 


Mumbai City To Get First Desalination Plant At Cost Of Rs. 1,600 Crore, To Tackle Its Water Problems

To Tackle water issues Mumbai faces, a new desalination plant in Mumbai has been approved at the cost of Rs. 1,600 crore, the plant will have a capacity of 200 MLD (Million Litres per Day)

New desalination plant will give a relief to city in tackling 10 to 15 per cent of water shortages it faces every year, CM of Maharashtra said. (read full article)

 

 


Electric Vehicle Charging Kiosks At 69,000 Petrol Pumps

With the aim to set up at least one electric vehicle charging kiosk at around 69,000 petrol pumps, the government is working out a concrete plan to create an ecosystem to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles in the country and make India an automobile manufacturing hub in the next five years.

MSME and transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the Government aims at creating core global competencies in India by facilitating seamless integration of the automotive industry with the world. (read full article)

 


Dry Construction Technology To Complete Office Buildings In Record 7 Months

Amid concerns over pollution caused due to construction, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is setting an example of constructing two pre-engineered building (PEB) complexes at Africa Avenue and K G Marg in the Capital, generating hardly any dust and causing pollution.

The combined built-up area of the two complexes will be 92,000 sq meter, similar to the built up area of Nirman Bhawan, will be completed in a flat 240 days, which is one-third of time taken compared to conventional buildings that use reinforced cement concrete (RCC) technologies. (read full article)

Funding National Infrastructure Pipeline: Union Cabinet Set To Approve Equity Infusion Of ₹6,000 Cr Into NIIF

The Union Cabinet is likely to consider a proposal to infuse ₹6,000 crore into the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), a move which will help the entity raise ₹1.10-lakh crore by 2025 for financing infrastructure projects, PTI reported.

On Nov 12, Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government will infuse ₹6,000 crore equity in NIIF’s debt platform, in its attempt to drive infrastructure creation in the country. (read full article)

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced a series of stimulus Packages worth Rs. 2,64,000 crore under Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0.
