Indian Railways Gets New Managing Director For Its Largest Infrastructure Project, Dedicated Freight Corridor

Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) gets a new MD (Managing Director), Ravindra Kumar Jain assumed charge of DFC.

DFC is Indian Railway’s biggest infrastructure project and is implemented under DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd.)

Jain who is new in charge of DFC is 1986 batch Indian Railway Services engineers, previously he has held positions of Chief administrative officer/construction, Kolkata, Executive Director of Civil Engineering Planning, prior to that, Jain held, Deputy Railway Manager, Samastipur Railway Division, in East Central Railway.

After taking charge of DFC, Mr. Jain interacted with field units and took stock of the progress of projects, PTI reported.

In his first meeting at DFCCIL, Mr. Jain said, every official should follow ‘Four Pillar Concept’ i.e., “commissioning of project as per target, cost-effective operation, business development to generate revenue commensurate with investment and work of new corridors to be taken on priority”.

Mr. Jain is said to have an exceptional record, he was adjudged outstanding Divisional Railway Manager for accomplishing the task of manning large numbers of level crossings in very short period of time.

He was also the man behind creative idea, of depicting Mithila paintings at Madhubani Railway station, and on rakes of Bihar’s Sampark Kranti.

Mr. Jain also has vast international exposure finessing his skills, he has visited Japanese cities on several occasions, representing Indian Railways, to study track maintenance in Japan.

Mr. Jain’s assuming of charges at DFCCIL coincides with first simultaneous and seamless up and down trail runs on eastern dedicated freight corridor’s newly lined 351 km Bhaupur-Khurja Section, the down train which began from Delhi-NCR region heading towards Jharkhand coal fields, train has attained maximum speed of 100 kmph in the section, zee business reported.

DFC project is in phase-l, which will see planning and development of western DFC of 1504 km, and eastern DFC of 1856 km including PPP section of Sonnagar-Dankuni section, and DFCCIL is set up as a SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle), which will undertake planning, development, mobilisation of resources, maintenance and operation of DFCs.
