L&T Is Lowest Bidder In Another Bullet Train Project

L&T is all ready to bag another project in Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project (MAHSR), after it emerged as the lowest bidder in design-construction of 88 Km viaduct of the 508 Km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed rail stretch.

Technical bids for Tender were open since September 25, wherein, L&T bid the lowest estimation at Rs. 7,289 crore.

Other bidders included consortium of AFCONS, IRCON International Ltd. and another consortium of NCC Ltd. TATA Projects Ltd. J.Kumar Infra Projects Ltd.

The project involves design and construction of civil and building works, testing and commissioning of high-speed rail line with 87.5 Km of viaducts and bridges, 25 crossing bridges, a tunnel, 97.5 Km of roads, a station, a maintenance & four sub-maintenance depots, and a host of associated structures.

This project will connect Vadodara with Ahmedabad via one station and a depot at Anand-Nadiad.

V.K Yadav, Chairman, Railway board, said that 66 per cent of land required in project has been acquired, 86 per cent of land in Gujrat and 22 per cent in Maharashtra.

Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project is 508 Km long High Speed Rail (HSR) project, stretching 348 Km in Gujrat, 155 Km in Maharashtra, and 4.3 Km in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, with 12 stations, and trains operating at 320 Kmph.

Nation High Speed Rail Ltd. (NHSRL) announced L&T as the lowest bidder for the project, this news came out within a week after L&T has bagged one of the biggest infrastructure projects worth Rs. 25,000 crore in the same Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project.

NHSRL estimated that this project alone will generate 90,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction phase.
