National Infrastructure Pipeline: What It Would Take To Realise This Grand Indian Project

The task force set up by the finance ministry on the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) recently submitted its final report. The task force has NOW projected total infrastructure investment of above Rs 111 lakh crore (A slight upwards revision from an earlier estimate of Rs.100 lakh crore) to be spent during period FY 2019-25 in a bid to propel India a $5 trillion economy.

Out of Rs.111 lakh crore NIP pipeline, 4 sectors make up the bulk of projected spend – energy (24%), roads (18%), urban (17%) and railways (12%) amount to 71% of the projected infrastructure investments in India To further decode the NIP proposals, we invited one of India’s best-known expert and public policy commentator Aashish Chandorkar.
