The advisory committee of the privatization-bound Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore has assessed pending applications to expedite its development projects.
“We have planned to construct a new terminal building at the airport. However, when I had recently met the cabinet minister, he has informed me about possible privatization of Indore airport and thus, the proposal is pending,” Shankar Lalwani, Member of Parliament (MP) from Indore, told The Times of India.
The Madhya Pradesh state government has meanwhile allocated about 20 acres of land to expand the given airport. The landing of big aeroplanes will be facilitated by extending the length of the airstrip to the required 4250 meters.
Lalwani affirmed that he would soon meet Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia with proposals and requests to expand the Indore airport.
Similarly, necessary measures such as developing the airstrip, kicking off international flights, enhancing facilities for passengers, and beginning overseas cargo flights from the airport in Indore, will also be discussed with the cabinet minister, who hails from Madhya Pradesh as well.
Moreover, MP Lalwani also affirmed that he had approached the central government to build an international level logistics hub in Indore. He further informed that in-principle permission to begin e-visa services in the concerned airport has also been received from the centre.
