Ola electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on Friday (16 September) announced that the company sold e-scooters – S1 and S1 Pro – worth Rs 1,100 crore in just two days after the company opened the sale for its electric 2-wheelers on Wednesday (15 September).

“While day 1 of purchase was quite unprecedented for us and the auto industry, day 2 simply continued from where day 1 left off!” Aggarwal said in a blog.

“In total over 2 days, we have done over Rs 1,100 crore in sales! This is unprecedented not just in the automotive industry but it is one of the highest sales in a day (by value) for a single product in Indian e-commerce history! We truly are living in a digital India,” the Ola electric CEO said.

The two-day sale process of the Ola e-scooters commenced on Wednesday and ended on Thursday.

Aggarwal noted that while the company has stopped the buying process now, the purchase window will re-open on 1 November, just in time for Diwali.

He further added that those who have already reserved the e-scooters but did not purchase in the window that ended on Thursday, will also be able to purchase on 1 November.

The electric scooter is available to purchase on the Ola App only currently, and not on the website.

Ola is starting the purchase in batches, and prioritising users based on their dates of reservation, the company said in a statement.

Earlier, the company was scheduled to start the e-scooter sale on 8 September. However, it postponed the process by a week to 15 September after facing “technical difficulties” in making the website for purchases live for customers, reports Economic Times.
