leading digital transformation and automation expert Schneider Electric has launched EcoStruxure rail in India. Schneider Electric intends to build a collaborative digital environment for a safe, efficient, reliable and sustainable metro rail operations through its end-to-end solutions.

As rail and metro systems have become increasingly complex to manage, challenges faced by Indian rail and metro network include extensions and stations along with rapidly growing passenger and traffic volume, current equipment employed in managing lack efficiency and consume significant amount of electricity, IoT enabled EcoStruxure offers electric safety and electrical efficiency up to 25 per cent, it also enables better planning and management of services increasing efficiency by 20 per cent, overall reducing ownership costs by 15 per cent.

Ashutosh Shukla, director, transportation and mobility, Schneider Electric India, said, “The Indian government has fast-tracked sizeable metro-rail development projects to serve the demands for millions of people. The latest development has necessitated the creation of a design, planning, service, and construction strategy that drives energy efficiency. Our EcoStruxure for rail solution aims to significantly improve operational efficiency, sustainability, asset performance, feasibility data, and employee productivity. This solution is targeted towards providing real-time awareness breaking silos, resulting in safe, comfortable, on-time operations, and effective passenger services into the Indian market.”

EcoStruxure platform has aided Metro Rail networks around the world in areas such as environmental control, power delivery, communication, and services, It also provides security against cyber breaches, it helps to avoid and detect intrusions at all levels: telecom system, control centre, and field devices.

Its advanced IoT-enabled features is best suited to solve the critical challenges faced by the Indian metro-rail segment. And reduces excessive power consumption by optimisation by using smart energy management solutions, integrating renewables, and braking energy recovery.

Moreover, according to the company, it improves electrical safety, smart management, and atmosphere of metro stations, along with the operation of their systems, with solutions for Traction Power, Signalling Power, Distribution Power and Construction management.

The EcoStruxure solution also intends to significantly enhance smart management, provide electrical safety and improve energy efficiency by upto 25%, Enables efficiency planning services and safeguard system’s operations, thereby increasing the overall operational efficiency by upto 20% and reduce the total cost of ownership by 15%.
