The enterprise arm of Vodafone India Limited (VIL) has initiated its integrated Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to compete against Bharati Airtel and Reliance Jio on this front. VIL’s IoT solution offers hardware, network, analytics, security, application and support.

The telco has already collaborated with a few companies and is targeting logistics, smart infrastructure, smart utility, smart mobility or automotive segments.

It is looking to develop partnerships and thereby develop an ecosystem in order to roll out end-to-end solutions. VIL MD and CEO Ravinder Thakkar told Economic Times, “Vi is a market leader in IoT and well positioned to capitalize on future growth driven by the Government’s push towards ‘Digital India’ and ‘Smart Cities’.”

India’s IoT market is valued to be around $15 billion currently and the country’s cellular connectivity based IoT market is set to rise to Rs 10,000 crore by 2022.

Meanwhile, VIL is also coordinating with numerous government departments for projects in the utilities sector.

This week, Airtel set afloat its end-to-end 5G-ready IoT platform whereas Reliance Jio has completely built a comprehensive IoT solution and is in further negotiations with the original equipment makers to bring out its own IoT services in India.
