Around 65,000 Km Of National Highways Involving Investment Of Rs 10.4 Lakh Crore Under Construction In Country

Around 65,000 km of national highways projects involving investment of Rs 10.4 lakh crore are under construction in the country as on 30 November this year, the Parliament was told on Thursday (9 December), reports Financial Express.

Among the under construction NH projects, Maharashtra has the highest share both in terms of length at 17.5 per cent. Maharashtra also has the largest share of 15 per cent with regard to cost involved in the projects.

Uttar Pradesh has the second largest share of length under construction and cost involved in the projects, both standing at 4,384 km and Rs 91,332 crore respectively.

With 4,052 km NH length under construction and cost of Rs 51,988 crore, Rajasthan has the third highest share. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu follow Rajasthan in terms of length of the national highways under construction.

In reply to a written question in Rajya Sabha, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed the Lok Sabha that a total of 34,419 km of national highways were constructed in the last three years. He added that 13,327 km of national highways were constructed last year which is the highest out of the three years.

Around 5,118 km of NH was constructed during the April-November period of the current fiscal, the minister said.
