Work On Central Vista Avenue Likely To Be Completed By December-End: Govt

The central government informed the Parliament on Thursday that around 60 per cent work on the redevelopment of the Central Vista Avenue has been completed so far.

Further, 35 per cent work of the new Parliament building has also been completed, reports Hindustan Times.

The Avenue is set to hold the upcoming Republic Day parade and hence the work on the same will be completed by the end of this month. On the other hand, the new Parliament building is slated to be ready by October 2022.

Four projects, namely: the redevelopment of the Central Vista avenue, construction of three common central secretariat buildings, the vice-president’s residence and the new Parliament building are being implemented currently under the Central Vista Redevlopment project.

“Rs 1,289 crore has been allocated for the works of Development/Re-development of Central Vista in the ongoing FY 2021-22,” Kaushal Kishore, Union Minister of State (MoS) Housing and Urban Affairs, informed the Lok Sabha.

The Centre revealed that direct livelihood opportunities have been provided to over 10,000 skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers on-site and off-site through the ongoing works at Central Vista.

Additionally, more than 24.12 lakh man-days of employment has also been generated through the projects under construction.
