Mumbai Metro: MMRC Floats Tender For Maintainance Of Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Line

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has issued a tender for the maintenance and operation of the underground Metro Line-3.

The last day for bids to be submitted is 20 December.

Metro Line-3 is a 33.5 km long underground corridor running along Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ. The length of the corridor is marked with 27 key stations, out of which 26 will be underground.

The line is expected to be partially commissioned by December next year.

On Metro Line-3, 99.2 per cent of the tunnelling work has been finished.

According to MMRC, 43 per cent of the track construction and 29 per cent of the depot work have been finished, bringing the project’s overall completion rate to 75.65 per cent.

Screen doors, escalators, elevators, and other passenger amenities are already being installed by the MMRC at a number of stations, reports Indian Express.

Metro Line-3 would connect Mumbai’s key financial hubs, such as Nariman Point, Bandra-Kurla-Complex, Fort, Worli, Lower Parel, Goregaon, etc.

The metro will provide for the first time, connectivity to the airport, Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade, Kalbadevi, Worli, BKC, Airport, SEEPZ and MIDC.

Besides, two crucial heritage stations in Mumbai —CSTM and Churchgate —will also be connected through the alignment.

These metro trains will run on a 25 KV AC traction supply and have a maximum passenger carrying capacity of 2,350.
