In a significant development for Uttarakhand, Union govt has approved Rs 193 crore for six rail overbridges in the state.
In a letter to Uttarakhand chief secretary S S Sandhu, under secretary to the union government Kamal Prakash has stated that four of the six bridges approved by the Setu Bandhan scheme of the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund will be constructed on state highways, and the remaining two on urban roads.
This comes after the Union government recently granted in-principle approval for relocating the Uttarakhand high court from Nainital to Haldwani.
“Heartfelt gratitude to honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Nitin Gadkari for approval of six RoBs costing Rs 193.92 crore under “Setubandhan” scheme of CRIF to Uttarakhand,” Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said.
“Surely this construction work will give a new impetus to the development of the state,” he added.
Dehradun’s Mata Mandir road frequently experiences traffic jams because of a railway crossing. A 150-metre bridge has been approved by the Centre, with a budget of Rs 15.8 crore to resolve the issue.
The approved second bridge is on crossing 99B of Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Malkota-Haldwani route, on state highway (SH) 5, costing Rs 55.3 crore for a 120-metre-long construction.
A new rail bridge has been also approved for crossing 104A on the Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Malkota-Haldwani route on SH 5.
The fourth rail bridge is on crossing number 51C on Indira Nagar-Shani Bazar-Mandi Gate in the Nainital district. The 60-metre-long bridge will cost Rs 34.6 crore.
Two 70-meter rail over bridges will be constructed on the Jwalapur Saray-Aakdd-Bahaddarpur-Ambuwala-Dhanpur SH 26 and Roorkee-Laksar-Balawali route for Rs 21 crore and Rs 22 crore, respectively.
