This link road will serve as a connection between the upcoming Noida International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, along with Haryana regions, through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has acquired 66.73 hectares of land, compensating the farmers with Rs 260 crore.

The construction of a 31-km link road stretch that will connect Noida airport in Jewar with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway began last week.

The project was inaugurated by Manish Kumar Verma, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, reports Hindustan Times.

For this significant undertaking, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration has acquired 66.73 hectares of land, compensating the farmers with Rs 260 crore.

This link road will serve as a connection between the upcoming Noida International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, along with Haryana regions, through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

As per officials from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the upcoming connection will further facilitate travel to Jaipur or Haryana and provide greater convenience for utilising the Yamuna Expressway, resulting in reduced travel time to various destinations in the region.

The project involves linking Jewar airport with Ballabhgarh in Haryana — where the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway passes through.

The NHAI stated that the connection would be ready within a year of commencing work, coinciding with the expected operational date of the airport project in September 2024.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, in 2019, instructed the NHAI to explore possibilities for connecting Jewar to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Ballabhgarh.

For the project, the administration has transferred land in various villages, including Dayanatpur, Karauli Bangar, Ballnagar and Amarpur.

“We have handed over the necessary land for the project to ensure its timely completion. Our aim is to provide multimodal connectivity from Jewar to nearby important locations,” said Verma.

The construction work began in Dayanatpur village, where land is being acquired for the airport project.

Further, officials have announced that the NHAI will construct an interchange on the Yamuna Expressway at the 30th km point — where the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will intersect with the expressway.

NHAI has allocated Rs 150 crore, and 19 hectares of land has been provided by the administration to construct an interchange in the area.

Additionally, to directly connect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with Noida airport — a 700-metre-long elevated road will be built from the Yamuna Expressway to the airport site.

The interchange to the airport boundary wall will require 4.42 acres of land and a budget of Rs 25 crore.
