In a positive development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Uttarakhand’s first Vande Bharat Express connecting Dehradun to Delhi on 25 May.

The announcement was made by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

“A new chapter is going to be added in the development journey of Uttarakhand under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” CM Dhami said in a tweet in Hindi on Friday (19 May).

“On 25 May, Uttarakhand is going to get the gift of ‘Vande Bharat Train’, which will run between Dehradun to New Delhi, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Dhami added.

The train, equipped with modern facilities, will reduce the travel time between the two cities to just three and a half hours from nearly six hours currently.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will also attend the event.

The Vande Bharat Express train has 14 AC chair car coaches and two executive AC chair car coaches with a capacity of 1,128 passengers. They are equipped with indigenously designed, modern passenger amenities.

The railways plans to run 400 Vande Bharat trains across India in the next three years.

The train is manufactured with indigenous technology, equipped with modern features and enhanced comfort. It has automatic sliding doors, reclining seats in all classes, and rotating seats in executive classes.
