Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari outlined the central government’s plans of investing Rs 5 lakh crore on road projects in Uttar Pradesh (UP) provided that the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) emerges victorious in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.

More importantly, Gadkari asserted that he will be ensuring that the roads in UP become as good as those in the United State of America (USA) following the polls.

The senior BJP leader also laid the foundation stone of the bypass road at Allapur, Babuganj, Unchahar and Jagdishpur respectively.

“Rs 5 lakh crore will be invested in roads projects in Uttar Pradesh in the next 5 years if BJP comes to power again. I will make the roads of Uttar Pradesh as good as the roads of America,” Gadkari’s statement was quoted in a report by The Economic Times.

“Vote for the double engine government under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya in the upcoming election, we will develop the state and it will be compared with the states in the US,” he further appealed to the people in the gathering.

On the occasion of former Prime Minister (PM) Atal Behari Vajapayee’s birth anniversary on 25th December, Gadkari also claimed that it was the late leader’s dream to connect every village of the country with highways and roads.
