Motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp sold a record 2.89 lakh units overseas, its most in any calendar year, in 2021.
Irrespective of the impending challenges in the automotive industry, Hero MotoCorp spread its presence in several Asian, African, Central American and Caribbean countries last year.
Moreover, the company recorded a 71 per cent increase in overseas sales in 2021. To be precise, it had sold only 1.69 units in the international market in 2020, and that figure shot up to 2.89 lakh in the previous calendar year.
“The volumes in our global markets in the calendar year 2021 is in line with our plans, keeping in mind the constraints in global logistics and supply chain on account of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic,” Hero MotoCorp Head – Global Business Sanjay Bhan was quoted in a report by Hindustan Times.
He outlined the company’s plans by further stating, “We are well on track to meet our target of garnering 15 per cent of the company’s total volumes from our global business by 2025.”
Hero MotoCorp has a presence in 42 countries across the world while it is also planning to launch its first electric product, manufactured in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, in India in March 2022.
