Going full steam on clean energy, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will install 1,100 solar panels on the roof shed of Sahibabad RRTS Station, which would generate about 4.5 lakh units of solar energy in a year.

The solar energy is expected to be used for lighting the station and running other electrical equipment. The construction work on Sahibabad RRTS Station in the priority section has reached the final stage.

Moreover, if the electricity generated is more than the capacity of the station, it can be used for other works as well. Solar panels mounted on the roof shed will supply electricity to different parts of the station through the ASS (auxiliary substation) of the station.

This station is 216 metres long and 25 metres wide, hence the area of the roof shed is considerably large. At present, the installation of about 85 per cent of the structural steel columns on the side walls of the platform level for making the roof shed of the station has been completed. Once all the structural steel columns are installed, the roof shed will then be finalised.

This roof shed will be made of galvanised iron (GI) sheet, which will be corrosion resistant and completely weather resistant. Once the roof shed is ready, solar panels will be installed. Finishing work inside Sahibabad Station is also being carried out.

Various technical rooms are being built at the concourse level of the stations for the operation of trains. Such rooms have also been built at Sahibabad Station, which include signalling, telecom, UPS and ASS rooms. Installation of related equipment has also been completed in these rooms.

Apart from this, the track laying at the station has also been completed. The installation work of traction (OHE) i.e., electric lines for the operation of trains is also under way, and which will soon be completed. Apart from this, signalling works are also progressing for train operation at the station.

Sahibabad Station is the first RRTS station as we enter Uttar Pradesh from Delhi on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. It is being constructed on the left side of Madan Mohan Malviya Marg in the direction from Vaishali to Mohan Nagar. It is an elevated station which has three levels, ground, concourse and platform level.

Like other RRTS stations, this is also being developed on the concept of universal access. Passengers will be able to reach the station premises directly by their own vehicles or public vehicles like taxis etc.

Following multimodal integration, the guiding principle of NCRTC, this station is being integrated with UPSRTC Bus Depot at Sahibabad. It will make it convenient for commuters travelling from far-flung places in the buses of UP and other states to reach Sahibabad RRTS Station. Multi-modal integration will facilitate hassle-free, seamless journey by modern fast transit from here.

For the convenience of passengers, three entry/exit gates are being provided at Sahibabad RRTS Station, one at UPSRTC Sahibabad Bus Depot, the second entry/exit at Sahibabad Site IV Industrial Area and Sahibabad Railway Station. The third gate will be at Vasundhara for commuters coming from different regions. This entry-exit gate is being built on the right side after crossing Madan Mohan Malviya Marg. A foot-over-bridge will also be provided here to cross this road. With the help of this entry-exit gate, residents of Vasundhara and nearby areas will get easy and safe access to the station.

Sahibabad RRTS Station will be equipped with state-of-the-art modern facilities including passenger information display board for real-time information and system maps showing major nearby places. At the concurrent level, facilities like ticket vending machines (TVMs), fire extinguishers, retail outlets, snack vending machines and washrooms will be provided in addition to the other facilities.
