According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, the domestic traffic in the Indian aviation industry’s YoY (year-on-year) growth was 48.9 per cent.

UDAN Scheme
India is the world’s fastest-growing aviation market, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It is the world’s third-largest market in the aviation sector.
This growth is being driven by a growing economy, rising incomes, intense competition among airlines and a supportive policy environment.
The National Civil Aviation Policy(NCAP 2016) signalled the government’s intent to radically alter the sector’s growth trajectory.
NCAP’s flagship program – UDAN (regional connectivity scheme) is boosting the country’s civil aviation and aviation infrastructure growth.
The UDAN scheme started in October 2016. In April 2017, the first flight from Shimla to Delhi under the UDAN scheme was flagged off by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The objective of the scheme is to connect small and medium cities with big cities through air service.
