According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, phase one of the Metro Line-9 is expected to be open by the end of next year (MMRDA).
The project is planned to be completed in two stages: first from Dahisar (E) to Kashigaon, and then from Kashigaon to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.
Metro Line 9 is an extension of Line 7 from Andheri to CSIA and Dahisar to Mira Bhayander and is 13.581 km long (11.386 km elevated and 2.195 km underground) with 10 stations.
It shall provide interconnectivity among the existing Western Express Highway, Western Railway, ongoing Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to D N Nagar) and Metro Line 7(Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E)).
The line will not only connect Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar, but it will also alleviate congestion at the city’s main entrance, the Dahisar toll naka.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 6,607 crore.
“Even if we start the first phase of the route starting from Kashigaon, it will help scores of people as the line connects to Metro Line-7 at Dahisar (E),” said an MMRDA official, reports Hindustan Times.

December 2025 is the completion date for the entire corridor.
MMRDA would need 3 to 4 rakes initially, to open the first phase of the line.
There will be two interchange stops on the Dahisar-Andheri line: the first is at Dahisar (E), where it will connect to the running Metro Line-7 (from Gundavali to Dahisar (E)) and Metro Line-2A (from Andheri (W) to Dahisar (E)), and the second is at Miragaon Metro station, where it will connect to the upcoming Metro Line-10 (Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk).
Medetiya Nagar three-tier station
Meanwhile MMRDA announced that more than 60 per cent of the work on Medetiya Nagar station, which is part of the elevated Metro Line-9 project, has been finished.
The MMRDA noted that the station’s three-tier structure, includes vehicular flyover, a platform, and a concessionary area.
The overall height of the station from the road level is approximately 35 metres.
All of the cast-in-place components, including the platform, have been finished, according to the MMRDA. The agency added that work on erecting the pier cap is presently underway.
“Integration with different transport systems in Mumbai is the challenging part. The Metro Line-9 will be the finest example of an integrated transport system in the MMR. After the completion of the metro projects, the travel pattern will be much more robust, connected, and sustainable,”said SVR Srinivas, metropolitan commissioner of MMRDA, added the report.
