Under this allocation, the agency aims to upgrade civil and electrical infrastructure in its 93 industrial areas — located across 46 districts in Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) — nodal agency for the development of industrial infrastructure in the state — has undertaken major plans for upscaling the infrastructure in its industrial areas with a record expenditure of Rs 456.28 crore in 2023-2024.
Under this allocation, the agency aims to upgrade civil and electrical infrastructure in its 93 industrial areas — located across 46 districts in Uttar Pradesh.
An official said that this is the first time that such a ‘huge budget’ has been proposed for upgradation of industrial areas.
This move falls in line with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who aims to transform Uttar Pradesh into the country’s growth engine, as per a Hindustan Times report.
UPSIDA has improved and upheld the civil and electrical infrastructure in its industrial areas as part of its efforts to offer enhanced facilities.
The efforts led to a remarkable increase in allotments in 2022-23, while also achieving investment interests of Rs 3.19 lakh crore at the UP Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023.
Allocations For Different Regions And Nature Of Upgradations
The agency has outlined the allocation of funds for different regions in the state.
Western UP region is set to receive the largest portion of the investment, with a total of Rs 206.57 crore, followed by Central UP with Rs 152.29 crore.
Similarly, Eastern UP and Bundelkhand will receive Rs 74.46 crore and Rs 22.96 crore, respectively.
In addition, Rs 25 crore has been approved by the government under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission (AIIM) scheme for upgradation of industrial areas of UPSIDA in 2022-23, reports Times of India.
Tracking the infrastructure upgradations — of the total budget of Rs 456.28 crore — Rs 302.33 crore has been allocated towards for civil work, while Rs 153.95 crore for electrical infrastructure upgradation.
This further breaks down to Rs 183.97 crore for the development and upgradation of roads and drains, and Rs 32.63 crore for the development of common facilities in industrial areas.
An estimated expense of Rs 21.66 crore has been planned for upgrading the drainage system, and Rs 11.88 crore will be spent on flood protection measures.
According to reports, an estimated amount of Rs 50.68 crore will be used to upgrade the electrical installations to energy-efficient LED lights and LED high masts.
Additionally, UPSIDA is undertaking the construction of a 220/33 KV substation at Trans Ganga City, Unnao, at a cost of Rs 85 crore.
There are plans to construct entrances in 17 industrial areas at a cost of Rs 8.63 crore, while Rs 18 crore has been sanctioned for fire stations in 28 industrial areas.
Mayur Maheshwari, the CEO of UPSIDA, has stated that UPSIDA is integrating its industrial sector infrastructure data with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal, to enable multimodal connectivity and facilitate seamless transportation and logistics in the state.
