With the Mumbai and Pune metro rail construction activity going in full swing, French rail transport giant, Alstom bags the contract to provide vital communication systems to five corridors, The Hindu has reported.
Alstom is going to equip the lines 2A, 2B and 7 of Mumbai metro and lines 1 & 2 of Pune metro with it’s Urbalis 400, Communications Based Train Control technology. The contract is valued at around €90 million.
Alstom is entrusted with the designing, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the CBTC. The company will also be supplying on board equipment and telecommunications such as public address, fibre optic transmission, access control systems and CCTV.
Alstom has been investing heavily in India to produce world class rolling stock, components, design, research and development to not only serve the domestic market, but also rest of the world.
The metro systems of Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow are supplied by the rolling stocks that are manufactured in Alstom’s unit in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
