The Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has prepared the draft alignment for the proposed metro line from Vatika Chowk to Pachgaon (Manesar), in Gurugram.
RITES was awarded the contract to prepare a detailed project report for this alignment, earlier this year.
In line with this, a meeting has been scheduled in Gurugram today (15 September) to review the proposed alignment, reports Hindustan Times.
To finalise the alignment, HMRTC plans to hold a stakeholders consultation meeting where the draft alignment prepared by RITES will be presented, and the views and suggestions of all stakeholders will be taken into account.
Senior officials from the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) announced that the meeting will be attended by officials from various organisations — including the National Highways Authority of India, National Capital Region Transport Corporation, Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, and RITES.
The Vatika Chowk to Pachgaon Metro line will span a distance of 30 km.
This line will complement the 28 km Huda City Centre to CyberHub metro line, which will create a loop connecting Old Gurugram areas and Dwarka Expressway with the Delhi Metro.
The metro extension project holds great significance, as it will serve as a test case for the Haryana government’s commitment to completing the project in the shortest possible time frame.
HMRTC chairman Sanjeev Kaushal, in July had designated RITES as the consultant for the Metro line from Vatika Chowk to Pachgaon.
The metro line from Vatika Chowk on Sohna Road to Pachgaon in Manesar is one of the three metro links in Gurugram, that will be taken up for work in the ongoing fiscal year.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while presenting the state budget for 2023-24, had announced that work on three metro links will be taken up in the current fiscal year.
The network includes Rezangla chowk to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Southern Peripheral Road through Global City to Pachgaon in Manesar, and extension of Bahadurgarh Metro up to Asaudha to connect with the Haryana Orbital Rail Network and Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway.
