Airport Authority of India has announced that commercial flight operations are likely to begin by December 2020, Bareilly airport currently belongs to Indian Air force.
AAI has built a separate enclave for civilian use within same airport with a terminal area of 525 sq meters, an apron for parking of one ATR-72 aircraft.
Alongside AAI has undertaken other developments in Bareilly Airport, including terminal building of area 2,050 sq meters, and apron for taxi track for two ATR 71 aircrafts.
AAI also said that 80% of the construction work is completed, and Bareilly will be soon connected to Lucknow and Delhi under UDAN Scheme.
Under UDAN scheme central and state government are allowed to incentivise selected airlines in order to encourage airlines to initiate operations,
Total cost of the work is Rs. 70 crore, the new civilian airport will handle 150 passengers during peak, 75 arrival and 75 departure.
