Construction and engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged the contract to build the Executive Enclave housing Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Secretariat among other important offices.
The Executive Enclave, being built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,189 crore, will be constructed under government’s Central Vista redevelopment project.
The contract was awarded to L&T by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).
The company is required to complete the construction work within two years.
“CPWD awarded the contract for construction of Executive Enclave, New Delhi to Larsen and Toubro Ltd., at 10.44% below the estimated cost put to tender, amounting to Rs. 1189 crore on November 15, 2022. The construction firm is required to complete the work within 24 months,” the CPWD said in a tweet on Thursday (24 November).
The Executive Enclave will also have the National Security Council Secretariat and the India House.
India House will be used as a conference facility like the Hyderabad House where high-level talks, especially with top visiting leaders of various countries, are held at present, reports Economic Times.
The Central Vista redevelopment project envisages a new Parliament building, a common central secretariat, revamping of the 3 km Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, new office and residence of the Prime Minister, and a new Vice President enclave.
