Union Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for Konkan marine cluster at Verna Industrial Estate, Goa, in a virtual event.
Wherein he said, Goa has the capacity to be a manufacturing hub for maritime sector and promoting nation’s blue economy.
Construction of common facility centre (CFC), Minister believes this will be a big achievement for Goa’s economy and nation’s costal future.
Gadkari pointed out at more ambitions, he said India’s shipping sector needs newer and faster ships, which can reach 100 nautical miles per hour, better designs in ships and advanced engines.
Goa can become centre of marine hub and maritime cluster, a manufacturing hub of international standards, Goa has always and historically be very important in Indian maritime, and with the new developments in Konkan Marine Cluster Goa will generate employment potential for Goa’s youth, he said (reported ANI).
At the same event, Minister also said, while contributing to Indian economy, this will be to realise Prime minister’s call for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Cluster development program is a scheme under ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises, and 80 common facility centre have been completed across country (including marine CFC) and another 80 CFCs are planned to be done.
