Tata Projects has partnered with Micron Technology to build an advanced semiconductor assembly and test plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
The contract awarded to Tata Projects solidifies the company’s proficiency in large-scale, sustainable infrastructure development in the Indian manufacturing landscape, the company said in a press release on Saturday (23 September).
The semiconductor firm which conducted a “groundbreaking ceremony” today at Sanand GIDC-II will be investing $825 million in Gujarat over a period of seven years for constructing the facility which will come up in two phases.
The project will be located in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation area of Chaarodi, Sanand, covering a vast 93-acre land area, according to the statement.
Tata Projects said that the project is a “significant milestone and the largest investment under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)”.
The construction of the Phase 1 of the project will include a 500,000 square feet cleanroom space, scheduled to be operational by late 2024, according to the statement.
The project encompasses the design and construction of a first-of-its-kind DRAM (dynamic random access memory) and NAND (non-volatile flash memory) assembly and test facility in India, the statement said.
Tata Projects aims to utilise modern construction methods and techniques involving EPC delivery through 4D BIM and hybrid modular accelerated construction, the statement said.
The Sanand factory will be designed to meet the LEED Gold Standards of the Green Building Council and will incorporate advanced water-saving technologies, it added.
