Gadkari announced a world-class Inter Modal Station(IMS) in Katra to improve the pilgrims’ traveling experience visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, stated that the Ministry is executing projects worth Rs 130,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, and has already completed 500 km of road network in the region since 2014.
Three corridors worth Rs 35,000 crore are being built for the journey between Jammu and Srinagar, according to Gadkari. The distance of 320 km will be reduced by 70 km, and travel time will decrease from 10 hours to four to five hours.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine,“ the Minister told at a press conference at Katra, the base camp for the pilgrims visiting the shrine atop Trikuta hills, reports Economic Times.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will have 41 tunnels costing Rs 45,000 crore and 18 ropeways worth Rs 5,000 crore, according to the Minister.
Gadkari also revealed a plan to construct the Amarnath Marg, which spans over 110 km and leads to the Amarnath cave in Pahalgam.
The project will cost roughly Rs 5,300 crore to facilitate the journey of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine, which is located at a height of 3,880 m.
