Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised achievement of 11 crore tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
PM Modi also congratulated to all those who have benefitted from this initiative and compliments to those working on the ground to make this Mission a success.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday (25 January) took to Twitter to inform about achieving the milestone of 11 crore tap water connections under the JJM.
“11 crore tap connections! The vision of our PM Narendra Modi ji, the relentless pursuit of the goals set out for Jal Jeevan Mission by the ministry and the effort of our team on ground has made this mega milestone possible,” Shekhawat tweeted.
“11 crore homes are now assured of health and well-being with this elixir of life reaching their doorsteps,” he added.
In response to the tweet by the Jal Shakti Minister, the Prime Minister tweeted, “A great feat, indicative of the ground covered to ensure ‘Har Ghar Jal’ to the people of India. Congratulations to all those who have benefitted from this initiative and compliments to those working on the ground to make this Mission a success”.
The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched by the Centre in 2019 to enable every rural household across the country to have provision of potable tap water supply by 2024.
The JJM is being implemented by the Centre in partnership with states.
At the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), 3.23 crore (17 per cent) households were reported to have tap water connections.
