Work on the 268 km long Pune – Ahmednagar – Aurangabad Expressway may begin soon as Land Acquisition Officers were appointed by the Pune district administration to acquire land for this project.
Pune – Aurangabad Expressway not just connects the emerging mega cities of Maharashtra, it also links Pune with Nagpur via soon to be inaugurated Mumbai – Nagpur Samruddhi expressway.
This upcoming expressway passes through Bhor, Purandar, Haveli, Daund, and Shirur talukas in Pune district. The sub-divisional officers of these talukas were appointed as the competent authority for land acquisition in their respective talukas, reports Punekar News.
This planned expressway between Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) will start from the Pune-Bengaluru highway intersection with Pune’s under construction ring road, and will connect to the Samruddhi Expressway near Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
Due to the traffic in urban centres and bad roads in patches along the current road network, it takes 14-16 hours to cover the distance of 716 km between Nagpur and Pune.
After the completion of Pune – Ahmednagar – Aurangabad Expressway, travel time between Nagpur and Pune is set to reduce to eight hours.
It is planned as a 268-km long greenfield expressway with six or eight lanes.
