Maha Metro is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra, with equal equity participation.
On Monday (31 October) , Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation (Maha Metro) presented a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed metro project in Aurangabad at a budget of approximately Rs 6800 crore.
The Aurangabad Smart Cities Development Corporation Ltd (ASCDCL) has engaged Maha Metro to prepare the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) of the city and a combined DPR of metro rail and flyover.

The DPR was presented to Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation’s administrator Abhijit Choudhary, who is also the chief executive officer of the ASCDCL, and other people’s representatives including MP Imtiaz Jaleel, reports Economic Times.
As part of the proposed project for which DPR is being prepared, two metro sections — Waluj to Shendra MIDC (a distance of 25 km) and Bidkin to Harsul are proposed to be constructed.
In fact, given Maha Metro’s expertise in implementing infrastructure projects like Road Over Bridges (ROBs), and Railway Under Bridges (RUB).
The organisation has also been asked to prepare a plan for a flyover, which will run parallel to the metro track, as has been executed in Nagpur.
Metro via-duct and flyover will run parallel from Waluj to Shendra MIDC of Aurangabad.
After successfully implementing metro rail projects in Nagpur and Pune and having prepared DPR for similar projects in the cities of Nasik, Thane and Warangal (Telangana), Maha Metro is now working on similar projects in the city of Aurangabad.
