In a positive development, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath is set to launch the construction of 628-kilometre-long Ganga Expressway which will cost the state’s exchequer around Rs 30,000 crore, reports Business Standard.
To be executed by the UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the expressway’s launch comes as a major boost for the state which is already witnessing the construction of three other expressways at a cost of more than Rs 42,500 crore.
The entire expressway’s construction is set to be divided into 12 separate packages to ensure simultaneous development by concessionaires who will be chosen on the basis of the competitive bidding process as in case of other expressway projects which are under implementation in the state.
The other expressway projects which are already under construction in the state are the 340-kilometre-long Purvanchal Expressway, 296 kilometres long Bundelkhand Expressway and the 91-kilometre-long Gorakhpur Expressway.
Bundelkhand Expressway, whose construction was launched by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi earlier this year on 29 February has already witnessed about 5 per cent of the construction being completed by UPEIDA.
Meanwhile, the construction of Purvanchal Expressway has been completed 44 per cent and the UPEIDA is aiming to complete 50 per cent of the work by the end of May.
