Delhi LG Approves Land Transfer To Facilitate Multimodal Integration For RRTS Project

The transfer of land at Anand Vihar and Patparganj to NCRTC will aid in multimodal integration, the construction of RRTS stations, traffic circulation, and the construction of ventilation shafts at these locations.

The Anand Vihar station will offer connectivity to both the pink and blue lines.

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG), V K Saxena, has given approval for the transfer of land from the irrigation and flood control department to the National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

This transfer is necessary for the implementation of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) project.

Officials from the LG office have stated that the transfer of land at Anand Vihar and Patparganj to NCRTC will serve several purposes, reports Hindustan Times.

It will aid in multimodal integration (MMI), the construction of RRTS stations, traffic circulation, and the construction of ventilation shafts at these locations.

On 10 June, NCRTC requested land for the Delhi-Meerut RRTS RapidX corridor and the construction of a ventilation shaft at Patparganj. After a delay of three years, the irrigation and flood control (I&FC) department has finally submitted the necessary file for approval to the LG.

The RRTS will integrate most stations on its three priority corridors under Phase-1, with the Delhi Metro network — to offer commuters an efficient travel experience without the need to exit RRTS stations along the way.

The Anand Vihar station will offer connectivity to both the pink and blue lines, while the Ghaziabad facility will be connected to the Red Line of the Delhi Metro.

NCRTC requires a total of 11,719 square metre of land.

At Anand Vihar, they need 2,297 square metre temporarily for construction activities and an additional 8,129 square metre permanently for MMI, traffic circulation, and the RRTS station.

Similarly, at Patparganj, they need 953 square metre temporarily for construction activities and 340 square metre permanently for the ventilation shaft.

LG Saxena has approved the transfer of this land to NCRTC.

The I&FC department has determined that NCRTC will need to pay Rs 148,280,757 for permanent land transfer and Rs 11,380,623 for temporary land transfer.

The RRTS is a new, rail-based, dedicated, high capacity, comfortable commuter service. The country’s first RRTS will cover a distance of 82 km between Delhi and Meerut in 55 minutes, instead of three hours.

The 17-km priority corridor of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot will have five stations — Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

The anticipated launch date for the priority section in Ghaziabad is this month.
