The government has issued a notification to conduct the ‘social impact assessment’ (SIA) for acquiring land for the third phase expansion.
The completion of SIA report along with other processes will pave way for the land acquisition process by September-end.
In total, 1,888.90 hectares out of the 2,053 hectares to be acquired from 14 villages in Jewar tehsil of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a notification to conduct the ‘social impact assessment’ (SIA) for acquiring an additional 2,053 hectares of land for the third phase expansion of the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar.
The SIA will be carried out by Gautam Buddh University and is expected to be completed by 30 August, according to Arun Vir Singh, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
The completion of SIA report along with other processes will pave way for the land acquisition process for the third phase of the airport expansion.
Land Acquisition To Begin By September-End
YEIDA will start acquiring land for the third phase from September-end this year.
According to a notification, the land will be acquired with the consent of the landowners.
This will be done in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Uttar Pradesh) Rules, 2016.
In total, 1,888.90 hectares out of the 2,053 hectares will be acquired from 14 villages in Jewar tehsil of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
This includes — Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajapur, Ramner, Kishorpur, Banwaribans, Parohi, Mukimpur Shiwara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmadpur Chauroli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur and Rohi.
According to Singh, land for the first phase (1,365 hectares) and second phase (1,334 hectares) has already been acquired.
As per the development plan of the airport, the third phase of the project will involve the construction of additional runways, in addition to the three runways planned for the first and second phases of construction.
This expansion is aimed at accommodating the growing demand and ensuring efficient operations of the airport.
The Airport Is Being Developed In Four Phases
The Noida International Airport (NIA) is being developed in four phases and is anticipated to become the largest airport in India once it is completed.
Currently, the construction work for the first phase of the airport is underway and is scheduled to be completed for commercial operations by September 2024.
The progress made so far indicates that the project is on track and moving towards its scheduled completion.
The first phase spread over 1,334 hectares will have a 3,900-metre runway with a capacity for 28 aircraft stands, cargo hub along with a passenger terminal spanning an area of 100,000 square metres that will cater to domestic and international passengers.
“Once the project is complete with all the five runaways and the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility, the total passenger capacity is expected to be 225 million, and this is going to be the biggest airport in Asia,” stated Arun Vir Singh as per a recent interview.
