Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off nine Vande Bharat trains, a record for launching maximum trains in a single day, for popular destinations on 24 September.

All these nine Vande Bharat trains would be having a composition of eight coaches each.

Vande Bharat Express would be pressed into service from Udaipur to Jaipur, Vijaywada to Chennai, Tirunelveli to Chennai, Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram via Alapuzha, Ranchi to Howrah via Tatanagar and Purulia, Jamnagar to Ahmedabad via Rajkot, Secunderabad (Kacheguda) to Bengaluru (Yesvantpur), Rourkela to Puri via Dhenkanal and Patna to Howrah.

New Vande Bharat trains are being launched after nearly two months since flag off of the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express and Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express on 7 July.

The Prime Minister would be launching the new trains in virtual mode from New Delhi. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is also slated to join the launching ceremony from Bhopal through virtual mode.

The first Vande Bharat Express, in orange colour, will go to southern India as Kasaragod-Trivandrum route is being considered for the launch of a Vande Bharat train with the new colour scheme.

While eight Vande Bharat trains are in the blue-white colour combination, the ninth one is being rolled out in an orange and white combination. There are plans for 10 more orange-white Vande Bharat trains.

Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat will be the second such service in Odisha after the launch of Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat earlier.

With Ranchi-Howrah and Patna-Howrah, there are three Vande Bharat trains for Kolkata destinations now.

While Rajasthan already has a Vande Bharat for Jaipur, the state is getting another one this month.

For Ahmedabad, it will be the second Vande Bharat train after the first one launched between Mumbai and Ahmedabad earlier.

Currently, there are 25 Vande Bharat trains operational across the country. With nine more being slated to be launched next Sunday, the total number of such trains would go up to 34.
