This impressive four-way junction includes ramps which will connect — NH-48, the Dwarka Expressway, with the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), which is on the other side of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The cloverleaf stretch has a circumference of over 2 km and will be one of India’s largest structures, resembling a larger version of the junctions at Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi.
NHAI and L&T have confirmed that the linkage project is underway and will be completed by the end of this month.
In pursuit of improved connectivity with the Dwarka Expressway, the project to link the cloverleaf interchange on Dwarka Expressway with the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-48) and the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) will be finalised soon.
According to a Hindustan Times report, NHAI and L&T have confirmed that the project is underway and will be completed by the end of this month.
This completion will ensure seamless connectivity for commuters across all three roads.
The construction of the 29 km Dwarka Expressway is divided into four packages. Packages one and two are located in Delhi, while packages three and four, covering approximately 18 km, are in Gurugram.
Connectivity Offered Through The Cloverleaf Junction
This impressive four-way junction is part of package four and is situated close to the Kherki Daula toll plaza.
It includes ramps on four sides which will connect — NH-48, the Dwarka Expressway, with the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), which is on the other side of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The cloverleaf stretch has a circumference of over 2 km and will be one of India’s largest structures, resembling a larger version of the junctions at Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi.
Once ready, the four loops of the flyover will allow seamless movement towards key routes to get to the Delhi airport, Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, SPR and the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
It will also make it easier for residents of new sectors in Gurugram to access NH-8 without having to go all the way to Kherki Daula toll plaza.
A large number of commuters currently use Loop One of the junction to travel from sectors 81 to 95 towards Rajiv Chowk.
However, they can only access NH-48 via the service road, which is in disrepair and prone to waterlogging.
NHAI officials have reported that the work on Ramp One is nearly finished and the access road has been newly paved. Work on Ramp Two is also in progress, which will divert traffic from Kherki Daula to the Dwarka Expressway.
Ramp Three of the cloverleaf is responsible for directing traffic from SPR to Kherki Daula and towards Jaipur. This section of the project is expected to take longer as a drain needs to be rerouted along that stretch. Ramp Four at the cloverleaf is designed to direct traffic from Gurugram towards SPR.
Officials have indicated that the ongoing efforts to complete the cloverleaf interchange has a deadline between 15 September and 17 September.
However, as per the report, NHAI officials stated that they have not received any instructions from the headquarters or Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari regarding the opening of the cloverleaf and package three and four of Dwarka Expressway.
